by

Boise Police are investigating a string of vehicle burglaries in Boise's North End.

Law enforcement officers were called out early Thursday morning to the area of North Eighth and Pueblo streets. That's where witnesses said a male had tried to get into between 20 and 30 unlocked vehicles, taking CD's, a knife, sunglasses and other items. The case is still under investigation.

Boise Police also report that a Colorado woman is behind bars following an incident where a man's earlobe had been nearly bittern off. Police were called to a motel on the 1000 block of West Grove Street Wednesday morning. That's where one of the occupants' left ear lobe was nearly severed. The victim also had a bite mark on his arm. Police eventually arrested the male suspect's companion, but she would not walk, causing the officers to lift and carry her to the patrol car.

23-year-old Katrina Martinez of Ignacio, Colo., was charged with felony mayhem (yes, that's the charge), battery and resisting and obstructing officers. Idaho Code identifies mayhem as:

Every person who unlawfully and maliciously deprives a human being of a member of his body, or disables, disfigures or renders it useless, or cuts out or disables the tongue, puts out an eye, slits the nose, ear or lip, is guilty of mayhem.
