North Idaho motorists were greeted by considerable traffic jams Monday morning after a chemical leak at the Idaho-Washington state line closed down I-90 in both directions from Post Falls to Liberty Lake.
About six miles of the main corridor were shut down due to a spill of Anhydrous Trimethylamine from a tanker truck at a weigh station, which began leaking on Sunday.
Transportation officials said they were hopeful that I-90 would be back open by midday Monday.
Meanwhile officials at Liberty Lake Elementary say they've decided to keep their students indoors Monday as a precaution.
Hazmat crews say they have capped the spill and that about a gallon of the volatile chemical had been leaked.
