Urban Outfitters Red-Faced Over Red-Stained Kent State Sweatshirt

Urban Outfitters are red-faced over a social-media firestorm that erupted after the retailer began selling what it called a "vintage" Kent State sweatshirt that had red stains and small holes. It was a not-so-subtle reference to the 1970 Kent State incident in which four students were shot dead and nine others were wounded by National Guardsman.

"This item is beyond poor taste and trivializes a loss of life that still hurts the Kent State community today," said a statement from Kent State University that added Urban Outfitters "used our pain for their publicity and profit."

The $129 sweatshirt has since been removed from Urban Outfitters website.
