The driver who killed a toddler in a vehicle hit-and-run in Jerome turned himself in to police, the Associated Press reports. An Idaho State Police news release confirmed the suspect is in custody, yet did not release a name. Police are working with the Jerome County Prosecutor's Office while the case is under investigation. Charges are pending.

The collision happened on the evening of Sept. 9, around 6:20 p.m., when a 2-year-old boy was crossing 21st Avenue in Jerome. Witnesses described the vehicle, occupied by two Hispanic males, as a black four-door Dodge Ram pickup with a silver toolbox in the bed. The vehicle did not stop after striking and killing the boy.

The driver turned himself in on Saturday.
