A member of the Middleton City Council has been arrested and charged with a sex crime, the Idaho Press-Tribune reports

Bradley Spencer, a member of the city council and a businessman, is accused of sexually battering a minor age 16-17. The father of the teenage victim reported the crime to police Sept. 3, saying Spencer was a family friend, but that Spencer and his daughter had been using social media to exchange sexually explicit messages.

The incidents of sexual contact are alleged to have occurred between June 1 and Sept. 2, and the victim told police that she had had sexual contact with Spencer in the back room of his music shop, Spencer's Music, and in Spencer's pickup truck.

Spencer has admitted to Idaho State Police that he engaged in sexual activity with the victim and was aware of her age. Spencer was arraigned Sept. 5, and Judge James Schiller set his bond at $100,000.
