An Idaho State University instructor sustained a non-life-threatening injury after his concealed handgun accidentally fired on campus, the Associated Press reports.
At approximately 4 p.m. Sept. 2, Pocatello police officers responded to reports of a shot fired on the ISU campus, and found the instructor in the Physical Science Complex. The wounded instructor holds an enhanced concealed carry weapons permit, allowing him to carry his handgun on campus. He was taken to Portneuf Medical Center, where he was treated and released Tuesday.
Pocatello police are unsure if the gun fired during a class, and the instructor's name hasn't been released.
This is the first school year in which holders of the enhanced concealed carry weapons permits may take their handguns onto Idaho's public college and university campuses following the passage of the so-called guns on campus bill
