The seven candidates vying for three seats on the Boise School Board of Trustees were joined by moderator Molly Lenty (third from left) at the Aug. 26 forum sponsored by the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce.
If voter history is any indication, a small minority of Boise citizens will decide today who gets to call the shots in Idaho's second largest school district.
Polls opened at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. at schools throughout Boise as seven candidates (six men and one woman) compete for three seats on the Boise Independent School District Board of Trustees.
Two years ago, only three candidates vied for three seats, so the polls were dark. In 2010, approximately 1,500 voters showed up for that trustee election and about 1,100 showed up in 2008, representing 1.5 percent (in 2010) and 1 percent (2008) of registered voters.
