Tornado Touches Down in Custer County

Residents in the Custer County town of Mackay are still talking about a tornado that touched down in their area Wednesday afternoon. Officials with the National Weather Service confirmed that the twister touched down briefly around 1:45 p.m. south of Mackay.

A local farmer, who said he had a personal weather station, told KIDK-TV that he clocked winds at 126 mph and that his greenhouse was destroyed by the storm.

The National Weather Service office in Pocatello said it was sending a storm team to Mackay today to survey any damage and make a formal attempt to rate the tornado.
