A little more than a year ago, Boise Weekly sat down to meet John Cohen
, the newly hired executive director of the Boise Convention and Visitor's Bureau. He spoke at length of building relationships with the business and tourism communities and strengthening the state's tourism effect.
He didn't spend too much time doing that, though, considering that Cohen has resigned from his position, putting the BCVB in the position of needing to hire its third executive director in two years.
Cohen reportedly pulled down an annual salary of $75,000 and the BCVB is expected to pay his successor about the same amount.
Just prior to Cohen's arrival, the BCVB moved its offices from the old Owyhee Plaza to share some space with the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. Cohen replaced retired BCVB Executive Director Bobbie Patterson
, who helmed the organization for 30 years. At its height, BCVB had 15 employees, but due to a much smaller budget, its staff was trimmed to four individuals, including its director.
