A governor-appointed panel is recommending a Medicaid expansion in the Gem State, the Associated Press reports.
The 15-member working group appointed by Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter voted Aug. 15 to submit its recommendation to Otter, but its members are concerned that the recommendation will be ignored by the governor, who, in his January State of the State address, announced his steadfast opposition
to expanding Medicaid.
This is the second time the group has recommended an expansion of the coverage program for the working poor—the first was in 2012—and House Majority Leader Mike Moyle, R-Star, said that Medicaid has become a politically toxic issue that's unlikely to be received favorably by lawmakers.
