J.R. Simplot Company has delayed the closure of potato processing plants in Nampa and Aberdeen—again
Capital Press reports
that high demand from customers has caused Simplot to once again extend the operational lives of the plants. The Nampa plant is now expected to close Oct. 31, with its packaging area possibly remaining open for an additional 30 days. Layoffs at the Aberdeen plant will take place between Sept. 2 and Sept. 15.
The Aberdeen plant employs 127 hourly and 13 salaried employees. Employment figures weren't available for the Nampa plant.
The closures come on the heels of a Simplot plant closure in Caldwell, where the agriculture company has recently opened a new facility that will employ transferred employees from closed plants.
