Yellowstone Hot Spring Boils Illegal Drone

Mother Nature took some poetic justice when a Yellowstone National Park hot spring swallowed a drone. The park bans the use of drones.

This morning's Missoulian reports that an investigation has been launched into the incident, but witnesses said the drone crashed into one of the park's 160-degree-plus hot springs, the Grand Prismatic, measuring 300 feet across.

Another drone incident in July resulted in a drone crashing into Yellowstone Lake. That drone's operator was issued a citation. The Missoulian reports that park rangers have indicated that they'll be less lenient in the future.

"We're beginning to get an increasing number of complaints from park visitors about people illegally flying these devices," said park spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs.
