The city of Hailey is reducing the amount of rockets' red glare in its community.
This morning's Idaho Mountain Express
reports that the Hailey City Council has voted to shrink the window of time when fireworks are allowed, from June 23 through July 5 down to July 1 through July 5; and from Dec. 26 through Jan. 2 down to Dec. 31 to Jan 1.
The vote comes in the wake of a July 6 fire in Croy Canyon, sparked by a Roman candle. The Croy Canyon blaze ultimately scorched 800 acres.
"Some jurisdictions want to eliminate them altogether," Hailey Fire Chief Craig Aberbach told the Mountain Express
. "Others, like Hailey, want to only restrict their use."
