Flash Flooding Closes Off Some Access to Middle Fork of Boise River

While much of the Treasure Valley was spared the brunt of the quick-moving storm, early morning flash flooding has blocked access to sections of the Middle Fork of the Boise River.

Boise National Forest officials are working the Atlanta Highway District, and they have closed access to the Middle Fork from the Slide Gulch/Middle Fork Boise River Road junction upstream to the Neinmeyer Recreation site. Officials said local access was still available to the Twin Springs resort.

Overnight and early morning heavy rains pushed mud and rocks into the river, blocking the waters and causing floods across the road. At one point, officials said nearly one-half mile of the road had been covered by water.

Meanwhile, Arrowrock Reservoir recreation facilities remain open and access to Atlanta has not been affected.
