Boise firefighters said a grease fire at a southeast Boise food plant caused a considerable amount of smoke, but damage was minimal thanks to some quick work.

Firefighters were called out at the noon hour on Thursday to the 3400 block of South TK Avenue, south of Broadway and Federal Way. A grease fire poured smoke throughout the large commercial structure. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they immediately called for a second alarm, which sent six engines, two ladder trucks, two battalion chiefs and other fire commanders to the scene.

Between 40 and 50 employees made a safe evacuation for the fire and no one was injured.

Ultimately firefighters discovered the source of the grease fire in a small cooking area. Firefighters used a dry chemical extinguisher to snuff the blaze.
