An Arizona man is behind bars at the Ada County Jail after leading law enforcement on a chase that ended at Boise's Gowen Field military base and led to some tense hours at the secure facility.

Boise Police said the suspect fled after two attempted traffic stops, tried to ram an officer in his patrol vehicle, and ultimately drove through a fence onto the Gowen Field base.

Police said the suspect had just been released from an Arizon prison 21 days ago. He had been jailed on a weapons charge.

Boise Police were joined by the Idaho National Guard Security and Boise Airport Operations Personnel in a search of the base. Police K-9s were also used in the search.

After a five-hour search, police spotted the suspect hiding in bushes up against a fence of the nearby Idaho Humane Society.

Andrew Garza, 30, of Surprise, Ariz., was booked on three felonies: aggravated assault, eluding officers and malicious injury to property.
