Boise State Agrees to Pay More Than $2 Million to Former Big East

The botched, never-going-to-happen deal in which Boise State inexplicably thought it would play football in the Big East Conference is a distant memory. But the lawsuit and counter lawsuit that resulted because of the debacle weren't resolved until this week.

Boise State and the American Athletic Conference (the new name for the old Big East) revealed this week that they had finally settled their dispute through mediation, and a lot of cash.

Boise State agreed to cut a $1.6 million check to the conference this week and continue to pay $140,000 per year for the next five years. Boise State said a good amount of the money will come from bonus money paid to the university for playing certain games on national television and more coming from its current home, the Mountain West.
