Two Idaho public servants—one in Parma, another in the North Idaho community of Athol—have been kicked to the curb.
In Parma, Mayor Bob Flowers told the Idaho Press-Tribune that he can't be effective as long as four of his city's six city council members have signed a petition to oust him from office. A recall petition, signed by the council members, alleges that Flowers is guilty of misconduct and misuse of public property, which he vehemently denies.
Flowers, who turned in his resignation July 1, was sworn into office earlier this year. It was his second stint at Parma City Hall. He also served as mayor between 1998 and 2006.
In the Kootenai County town of Athol, the City Council has unanimously voted to fire their city clerk Sally Hansen. This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that Hansen's firing comes in the shadow over allegations of criminal conduct. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office confirmed that it was investigating the case, but no arrest had been made yet.
