A formal investigation has been launched following a May 3 incident in which four busloads of partying students, reportedly from Washington State University, threw up and urinated in full view of mourners attending a memorial service at Coeur d'Alene's City Park.

This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that several of the students identified themselves as members of Washington State fraternities and sororities. Witnesses said several students threw up in the bushes at the park, were swearing loudly, and both men and women were urinating on a nearby wall of the Museum of North Idaho.

The Press reports that the incident occurred just feet away from the Coeur d'Alene Police Department's City Park substation, which had yet to open for the summer season.

A spokeswoman for the dean of students at Washington State said the university is investigating the incident.
