They'll need more than 2,400 valid signatures, but those behind an effort to bounce the city of Eagle's council president from office say they're confident enough people want a change.
Eagle Council President Mary McFarland says she was taken aback by the effort, but paperwork has been filed at the Ada County Elections Office launching the recall petition. The paperwork indicates that those behind the recall allege that McFarland violated open meeting laws, interrupted public testimony and has lost citizen confidence in her ability to do the job for which she was elected.
All of the signatures must be validated by mid July in order to create a special recall election. And if indeed the recall question is put to voters, those voting to oust McFarland from office must equal or exceed the number of votes that put her into office in 2011—1,187.
McFarland, the publisher of Eagle Informer magazine, was elected to the council in 2011.
