City of Boise officials cut the ribbon at Friday's noon hour on the newly expanded Ada County Family Justice Center.
Officials at the FACES center said the expansion was in response to the most recent crime statistics, which indicate that the incidence of domestic violence is on the rise in the Treasure Valley.
The Family Justice Center (FACES) was created as a haven for domestic, child and sexual abuse victims, and includes facilities, medical and police specialists to provide forensic and nonforensic exams, legal and victim services, and domestic violence education. The expansion includes specialists from the Boise Police Department Special Victims and Victim Witness units.
On hand to celebrate Friday's ribbon-cutting were Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, Boise Police Chief Mike Masterson, Ada County Commissioner Jim Tibbs, Ada County Prosecutor Greg Bower, Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jean Fisher and Bea Black, executive director of the Women's and Children's Alliance.
