Boise City Attorney Cary Colaianni will be returning to the private practice of law, according to a city of Boise press release.
Colaianni has been city attorney since 2004. Over the last decade, he reorganized his office into five divisions and its management structure, as well as reduced his office's dependence on paper and increasing its use of technology in criminal and civil matters.
"Having left the private practice of law in my hometown of Pocatello some 22 years ago, the time has come for me to return to my first love—representing business clients with their everyday legal needs," Colaianni said.
While the city seeks a replacement, Deputy City Attorney Steve Rutherford will serve as interim director.
