Feds Will Investigate Magic Valley Farm Fatality

Federal investigators have been called in to probe the Feb. 11 death of a Burley farmworker.

Antonio Ponce, 54, of Burley was killed when he got caught in a feed mixer at Anderson Farms in Heyburn. Local police had initially ruled the death an accident, but Cassia County Coroner Lucky Bourne told the Twin Falls Times-News that he hadn't officially ruled the incident an accident "because he lacked proof of how the worker ended up in the mixer."

Bourne said he has turned his report over to the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration, which will conduct its own investigation.
