Now There Are Four Candidates For Idaho Schools Chief

Yet another Republican has announced her intention to lead Idaho schools.

Sherri Ybarra announced Feb. 12 that she brings nearly 17 years of education experience to her campaign to become Idaho's superintendent of public instruction. The University of Idaho graduate and Mountain Home educator spent 11 years as a classroom teacher and six years as a school administrator.

Ybarra will contest American Falls principal Randy Jensen and Cottonwood teacher John Eynon in the May 20 Republican primary.

Democrat Jana Jones, who lost a narrow 2006 race to current Superintendent Tom Luna, has also announced her bid.

Luna announced earlier this year that he would step down from his post at the end of his term.
