Boise Police announced Thursday afternoon that the two men arrested earlier this morning in connection with the armed robbery of a Boise taxicab have now been charged with a similar heist the night before.
In both cases, police said the cab drivers reported being robbed at gunpoint of their wallets before being left on a roadside as the suspects drove off in their cab.
"These cab drivers were just doing their job and ran into some bad guys. They stayed calm and were very good witnesses," said Sgt. Mark Barnett of the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit. "It's very fortunate that the violent actions of the suspects didn't hurt anyone, either the victims or the responding officers. These suspects robbed the cab drivers at gunpoint and intentionally rammed police vehicles with no regard for who they might hurt. It's a good thing officers found them and got them into custody so quickly."
Dustin Meuser, 20, and Justin Cosner, 25, both of Boise are now each charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of grand theft and two counts of kidnapping. Meuser is also charged with eluding a police officer and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Two men are behind bars for the armed theft of a Boise taxicab—one day after another cab was stolen.
Boise Police report that a few minutes before midnight, a driver reported that his cab had been stolen on the 1300 block of North Milwuakee Street. The victim told officers that he was force to surrender his wallet at gunpoint and then ordered to drive to Kuna, where the driver was let go and the suspects took off in the cab.
A short time later, police spotted the stolen cab in Downtown Boise and gave chase. According to law enforcement, the suspects rammed several police vehicles as they tried to escape south on Ninth Street. Eventually, police were able to box in the suspects and force them to surrender on South Capitol Boulevard near the train depot at approximately 12:20 a.m.
Dustin Meuser, 20, and Justin Cosner, 25, were each charged with armed robbery and kidnapping. Meuser was also charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and eluding a police officer. Cosner was also charged with grand theft.
The incident comes one day after an ABC taxi was also reported stolen at gunpoint. Boise Police say they haven't determined if the two thefts are related.
