Idaho City Postmaster Charged With Stealing Gift Card From Someone's Mail

An Idaho City postmaster faces a preliminary hearing on Monday, Jan. 13, after being accused of stealing from her patrons.

Teresa Belau, who has served as postmaster for the small Boise County community since 1999, has been accused of grand theft after prosecutors say she stole a financial transaction card from someone's mail sometime in late July 2013.

The charge comes in the wake of an investigation by the United States Postal Service's Office of Inspector General, which launched the probe following allegations of missing mail.
