Police Blotter: Battery, Sex with a Minor and Felony DUI

A Boise man spent part of his Thanksgiving behind bars after being charged with felony DUI.

Boise police say, on Nov. 28, they received a citizen report of a possible drunk driver. Police said they located the suspect as he exited his vehicle at a residence on the 5600 block of Marvin Lane, just before midnight. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .28 blood alcohol level. A check through Boise City records indicated that the suspect has previous DUI convictions.

Craig Hoppins, 57, of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail for felony DUI.

John Sanchez, 32, is charged with three counts of sexual battery of a minor 16 or 17 years.

Boise police say they served an arrest warrant in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual activity involving a minor. The activity was reported to police in September. The victim, a juvenile female, said the conduct took place on more than one occasion and that the suspect was well known to her. Police said they had no reason to believe there were other victims involved.

John Sanchez, 32, of Boise was charged with three counts of sexual battery of a minor 16- or 17-years of age.

Steven Pierce, 43, is charged with aggravated battery.

Police served another warrant in connection with an incident that took place in a Boise home on July 7. A male suspect was involved in a dispute, in which witnesses said the suspect repeatedly struck a victim in the head, causing injuries to the face and jaw. Officers said they believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Steven Pierce, 43, of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony count of aggravated battery.
