Independent-Enterprise: Payette Chamber Faces Possible Dissolution

Facing a pool of red ink and accusations of financial mishandling, the Payette County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, December 10 when members will be asked to vote on dissolution.

The Independent-Enterprise reports that the Payette County Chamber of Commerce has liabilities of over $3,500 but only $1,268 in its checking account.

Additionally, a guest opinion written by chamber board member Reece Hrizuk in the Independent-Enterprise said "the chamber's books had not been properly maintained," and "the financial reports that had been provided to the Board for at least one year prior [to February 2013] were drastically overinflated and false."

Among its liabilities, the Chamber has an unpaid phone bill, a tax penalty for late filing, and a loan of $3,500 from Chamber President Mikki Logan. The Chamber's assets include office supplies, some furniture a computer, a photocopier and a broken electronic sign.

Chamber members will vote on the proposed dissolution at noon, Dec. 10 at a meeting set for Payette's Hideaway Grill.
