Former Middle School Counselor Sentenced For Producing Child Pornography

Mark Saltzer, 45, was sentenced Nov. 12 to 29 years in prison for making child pornography.

In July, readers learned about former Meridian Middle School counselor Mark Saltzer, 45, who earlier this summer pleaded guilty to producing child pornography. Now, after a court appearance on Nov. 12, he will serve 29 years in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release, the Idaho Press-Tribune reported.

Saltzer admitted to producing videos of a sexually explicit nature of 11 boys between the ages of 11 and 17 over a six-year period, from April 2006 to April 2012, as part of a plea agreement.

Arrested in August 2012 on a federal warrant, Saltzer was found guilty in July 2013 after being linked to an Internet ring that traded in child pornography. At the time of his arrest, two boys not related to Saltzer were found in his home. He later admitted to molesting one of them.
