Meridian Police: Drunken, High Speed Chase Topped 100 MPH

Roy Rojas, 47, is charged with eluding police and DUI.

A Nampa man is behind bars after law enforcement said his vehicle topped 100 mph in an early morning chase on Fairview Avenue.

Meridian Police said they first spotted the driver's vehicle traveling the wrong way on the westbound lands of I-84 without his headlights on. Police said the vehicle pulled off of the interstate, and was later spotted on Cherry Lane near 10 Mile Road. Officers said the vehicle exceeded 100 mph in a chase, while the driver repeatedly turned his headlights on and off.

Eventually the vehicle, while traveling on Fairview Avenue, was stopped by a spike strip deployed across the road.

47-year-old Roy Rojas was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of eluding police and DUI.
