Longtime CSI Professor Chosen To Be College's Fourth President

Dr. Jeff Fox began his 26 years at the College of Southern Idaho as an associate professor. He has since been a department chair, director and executive vice president of the Magic Valley college. On Oct. 18, he was told that he would become the fourth president in CSI's history.

Fox's election by CSI's Board of Trustees was made official Friday as he was introduced to a packed room of applause.

"I was overwhelmed by the number of people here, for one thing, and just kind of concerned," said Fox. "I didn't see the other candidates here, so I assumed good news was coming."

Fox edged out two other finalists: Dr. Daniel Bingham from the University of Montana and Dr. Ryan Carstens of Salt Lake Community College.

"I don't know exactly what the change is going to look like in any detail," he said. "But the change is coming, there's no doubt. So our best preparation is to be ready, to help invent the future for ourselves, and not let it happen to us."

Fox is expected to be officially sworn into office at year's end.
