Threats with a knife and a gun have landed a Boise man behind bars.
Boise police say they were called to a residence near Overland Road and Latah Street Oct. 11, where two victims said an ongoing dispute with Byron De Groot, 47, escalated when he threatened them with a knife. According to the victims, De Groot went into the house and returned with a handgun, pointing the weapon at them before firing a shot into the ground.
Police found De Groot near the home and retrieved a handgun from his property. He was booked into the Ada County lockup on two felony counts of aggravated assault.
On Oct. 12, Boise police responded to an alarm at a medical facility on the 800 block of North Liberty Street, where officers said they spotted a female exiting a back door of the building. Police said the suspect ignored officers' commands and attempted to run away. After a short pursuit on foot, officers took the suspect into custody. Officers said they obtained evidence indicating the suspect entered the building through a window and attempted to gain entry to a safe. Officers recovered syringes along with several burglary tools.
Kristine Dunnigan, 43, of Boise was charged with a felony count of burglary and possession of burglary tools and resisting and obstructing officers.
