Police Blotter: Burglary and Threats With Weapons

Threats with a knife and a gun have landed a Boise man behind bars.

Boise police say they were called to a residence near Overland Road and Latah Street Oct. 11, where two victims said an ongoing dispute with Byron De Groot, 47, escalated when he threatened them with a knife. According to the victims, De Groot went into the house and returned with a handgun, pointing the weapon at them before firing a shot into the ground.

Police found De Groot near the home and retrieved a handgun from his property. He was booked into the Ada County lockup on two felony counts of aggravated assault.

Kristine Dunnigan, 43, is charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and resisting and obstructing.

On Oct. 12, Boise police responded to an alarm at a medical facility on the 800 block of North Liberty Street, where officers said they spotted a female exiting a back door of the building. Police said the suspect ignored officers' commands and attempted to run away. After a short pursuit on foot, officers took the suspect into custody. Officers said they obtained evidence indicating the suspect entered the building through a window and attempted to gain entry to a safe. Officers recovered syringes along with several burglary tools.
