Captain Henry Skillern of Humble, Texas, died at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center after suffering a mid-flight heart attack over the Gem State the evening of Sept. 26, the Associated Press reports.
While piloting United Flight 1603 from Houston to Seattle, Skillern suffered cardiac arrest. An off-duty pilot took control of the plane while Skillern received CPR from two Madigan Army Medical Center doctors who were on the flight. The plane was diverted to the Boise Airport and Skillern was rushed to SARMC, where he died during treatment.
Early Friday morning, an autopsy determined that the cause of death was, indeed, a heart attack.
The Boeing 737-900 Skillern was flying had 161 passengers and a crew of six on board.
