Communities around the Treasure Valley were hit with extreme weather Thursday, including thunderstorms that sent emergency advisories buzzing to cellphones.
According to this morning’s Idaho Press-Tribune
, golf ball-sized hail pummeled Meridian, mudslides closed Highway 55 and an inch and a half of rain fell on Nampa in 30 minutes, leading residents on the 1000 block of 8th Ave. South to form a bucket brigade to bail out at least one neighbor’s home.
Power outages were also reported throughout the area on Thursday, in what KBOI-TV2
meteorologist Vin Crosby told the Press-Tribune
was the heaviest storm activity he’s seen in about 15 years.
