A Boise man is behind bars, charged with stealing from vehicles in a pre-evacuation zone of Hailey at the height of the Beaver Creek Wildfire.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that 18-year-old Casey Farley, a former resident of Hailey, now resides in Boise. Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter told the Mountain Express that Farley was "taking advantage of the fact that vehicles or residences might be vulnerable to theft because of the fire."

Farley is accused of stealing laptops, walets, cash and other valuables from seven vehicles on August 21. All of the stolen items, valued at approximately $3,000, have been recovered.

Farley is behind held at the Blaine County Jail, charged with four counts of burglary and one count of grand theft. A preliminary hearing has been set for Wednesday, Sept. 4.
