A smoky haze in the air this morning was a reminder that wildfire season has hit. The Turner fire, burning approximately five miles from Boise on the edge of Lucky Peak Reservoir, has burnt approximately 300 acres after igniting around 5 p.m. on Monday, July 1.
The fire—which is suspected to be human-caused—is burning in a tough-to-access area of the reservoir and the lack of roads into the area means crews have had to use boats and aircraft to reach the fire lines.
Crews worked throughout the night to get the fire under control in the extreme heat and dry conditions. Full containment is expected at 8 p.m. tonight.
