City of Boise Confirms Free Pre-Davis Cup Celebration at CenturyLink Arena

The City of Boise announced this morning details of an event that Boise Weekly readers have known about for a while: a free event on Tuesday, April 2, for the public to meet Team U.S.A. in preparation for the Davis Cup Quarterfinals Friday, April 5, through Sunday, April 7.

The April 2 event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at CenturyLink Arena and allow young players to take to the courts with local pros and Boise State tennis players. The evening will also include an appearance by members of the U.S. Davis Cup Team, who will be gearing up to face the Serbian squad, led by the world's No. 1 player, Novak Djokovic.

“Boise is thrilled to host Davis Cup tennis in Boise,” Mayor David Bieter said, “and to express our thanks, we are hosting a community event to raise the excitement level about Davis Cup, to show the team our hospitality, and to get more young people involved in tennis and the healthy benefits it brings.”

The Capital City Development Corporation will be offering free parking at all of its six downtown garages between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the event.

Youngsters ages 5 to 13 can register online to take part in the "on court" activities at The first 300 registrants will receive a special gift from Let's Move Boise, and free Davis Cup posters will be distributed to the first 500 fans who walk through the CenturyLink Arena doors on April 2.
