Tribune: Prime Time TV Show to Feature Idaho Doomsday Boat

In July 2012, Boise Weekly dedicated a full issue to those folks—in Idaho and across the globe—who were pretty sure that the end of the world would occur on or near the end of last year.

BW visited with a Garden Valley realtor who considers himself a "prepper" and even checked out the Boise Army Navy store, which sells "bug out" bags and zombies for target practice.

And while Dec. 21, 2012, came and went with no panic, that hasn't left many of "preppers" undeterred.

A prime example is the National Geographic Channel program Doomsday Preppers, which tonight will showcase a boat being crafted in north-central Idaho, specifically for some end-of-the-world nutjobs.

This morning's Lewiston Tribune reports that this evening's program will visit SJX Jet Boats, which has manufactured a vessel that preppers will use to reach what they call "their hideaway."

The Tribune reports that the unique boat retails for about $37,000 and can run in as little as three inches of water.
