Boise's urban renewal agency, the Capital City Development Corporation, plans to include a number of "streetscaping" projects as part of its 2013 expenditures, according to documents on the Feb. 11 agenda.
"The 2013 streetscape projects are intended to achieve three goals: continue to improve streetscape connectivity to and from the core to increase pedestrian flow throughout downtown, to increase a streetscape network that supports new and existing development, and improve biking facilities/conditions where possible," wrote staff in the report.
Last year, CCDC made streetscaping improvements on a number of Boise roads, including expanding along 10th Street. This year's plans include proposals to retool parts of Idaho Street, the southern portion of Eighth Street between the Boise Public Library and BODO, and improve bike crossing at Eighth and Front streets.
In addition, 13 permanent bike racks, parking up to 26 bikes, are planned for Capitol Boulevard near the Egyptian Theatre.
