Hackers are notorious for breaking into websites and bank accounts, but the Great Falls Tribune reports that hackers broke into a Great Falls, Mont., TV station Feb. 1 and warned of a zombie attack.
"Dead bodies are rising from their graves," warned KRTV-TV and its CW network affiliate on Monday.
An executive with the Montana Television Network in Bozeman said the hackers broke into the network's emergency alert system, and claimed that the zombies were "attacking the living" and "not to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous."
A spokesman for the Great Falls Police Department confirmed that law enforcement received calls from worried viewers.
“We had four calls checking to see if it was true. And then I thought, ‘Wait. What if?’” Lt. Shane Sorensen told the Tribune. “We can report in the city, there have been no sightings of dead bodies rising from the ground.”
