U of I Among Best in Producing Peace Corps Volunteers

A few days after being named America's No. 79 party school, the University of Idaho has been lauded for the number of Peace Corps volunteers it produces.

The U of I ranks seventh among medium-size schools on the Peace Corps' 2013 Top Colleges list.

Historically, 521 U of I graduates have served overseas in the Peace Corps.

But Washington universities and colleges reign supreme with the program. For the first time ever, schools in a single state hold the No. 1 spot in the small (Gonzaga University), medium (Western Washington University) and large (University of Washington) categories.

Other regional colleges and universities mentioned by the Peace Corps for their impressive number of undergraduates serving in the program include, in the large category: the University of Oregon; in the medium category: the University of Montana and Montana State University; and in the small category: Seattle University, University of Puget Sound, Lewis and Clark College and Pacific Lutheran University.
