Boise School Trustees to Prepare Budget Schedule

by

When Boise School District trustees meet Monday night, they'll be asked to set in motion the process to craft a new spending plan for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year.

Budget writers are asking that the district hold it's first workshop on Friday, April 26, with public input solicited on Monday, May 13, and final approval slated for the board's Monday, June 10, meeting.

The budget will be the first since Boise district voters approved a five-year, $70 million levy in March 2012, a move that trustees said was necessary to maintain class sizes in the state's second-largest district.

Public-school students in the Boise district regularly outperform Idaho and the nation on standardized achievement and advanced-placement tests, and all four of the district's traditional high schools are listed among America's top high schools by The Washington Post, one of only 20 districts in the nation to hold that distinction.
