The Idaho Legislature launches the fourth week of its 2013 session this morning, with many of its House and Senate committees up to speed.
The budget-writing Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee continues to listen to state departments and agencies in anticipation of crafting a spending plan for Fiscal Year 2014. This morning, JFAC members will hear from the departments of Fish and Game, Water Resources, and Parks and Recreation.
The Senate Education Committee will consider new proposed legislation on teacher contracts and a proposed measure on something called "DeNovo" hearings, where an appellate agency or court makes a decision on a matter while ignoring the findings and conclusions of a lower agency or court.
The Senate State Affairs Committee takes up several appointments, including proposed members of the Idaho Energy Resources Authority and the Public Utilities and Lottery commissions.
The House Agricultural Affairs Committee will hear from economists on the impact of agriculture on Idaho's economy.
And the House Health and Welfare Committee will take up proposed legislation that would allow pharmacists and medical practitioners to share controlled-substance database information with one another.
