School officials in the Notus and Parma school districts canceled classes for today. It's a good thing, many of their students and teachers may have been pretty late to class anyway.
Idaho Power announced early this morning that the Notus and Parma area experienced power outages, in addition to customers near Fruitland, Caldwell, Wilder and Adrian.
Approximately 2,300 customers were affected.
Schools in the Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, Vallivue and Middleton districts are also closed for a more traditional reason: today being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, aka Idaho Human Rights Day.
Boise State University is also closed today.
All county, state and federal offices are closed, but the Idaho Legislature is in session. The City of Caldwell is a lone exception to local municipalities and its offices are open today.
All local banks, libraries and post offices are closed today but ValleyRide city buses are running on their normal schedules.
