Drivers are urged to exercise caution this morning as thick blankets of fog descend on Boise and nearby areas. A dense fog advisory is in effect for much of the Treasure Valley, leading to low visibility and difficult driving conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, visibility may be as low as one-quarter mile at times, with local visibilities reduced to 100 yards or less as pockets of fog move about the area. According to today's forecast, the fog is expected to dissipate as early as 11 a.m.
But in its place come more frigid temperatures, with a low of 3 degrees Fahrenheit predicted for overnight.
It's not expected to get much warmer any time soon: Lows remain below the 10 degree mark for the rest of the weekend. Wednesday, Jan. 23's high of 37 includes a slight chance of rain or snow showers.
