Vice President Joe Biden and Boise Mayor Dave Bieter will be feted by Boise State's Frank Church Institute at the second annual Frank and Bethine Church Awards for Public Service, set for Sunday, Feb. 17.
Bieter will accept the award in person while a representative of Biden is expected to accept the award on his behalf. The event will also celebrate the 90th birthday of Bethine Church, widow of U.S. Sen. Frank Church, who represented Idaho in the U.S. Senate from 1957 to 1981. Church was a colleague of Biden, who represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 until his election as vice president in 2008.
Last year's Public Service Award honorees were Boise State President Bob Kustra and his wife, Kathy.
This year's awards will be presented during a dinner and reception at Boise State's Stueckle Sky Center and will benefit the Frank and Bethine Church Chair of Public Affairs at Boise State.
