Press: Car Chase, Gunfire Nab Suspect After Drug Bust Near Idaho Casino

Officials at the Coeur d'Alene Casino in northern Idaho said "any potential danger to customers or employees on our property was rapidly quashed" following a Jan. 8 drug bust involving local, state and federal law enforcement.

This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that 41-year-old Charles Gibson of Spokane was injured in a shooting, when he tried to escape from police following a "controlled narcotics purchase" at a gas station near the casino.

"To our knowledge, the (store) was chosen randomly for the illegal activity that police say took place," said casino spokesman Bob Bostwick.

Police said Gibson tried to escape in his vehicle but an officer fired one shot into Gibson's car, requiring him to be taken to the Kootenai Medical Center for his injury.
