Press-Tribune: Shots Fired in Canyon County Standoff

Canyon County sheriff's deputies faced an armed man outside a home on the 5700 block of Oak Street in Nampa.

This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that law enforcement was called to the scene following a 911 call regarding a disturbance. But when a man walked out of the door toward police holding a hunting rifle, he was ordered to drop the weapon. Police said the man refused and was shot by an officer with the Canyon County Sheriff's Office.

The injured man retreated back into the home but a SWAT team and crisis negotiators ultimately talked the suspect out of the home. He was taken to a local hospital.

Monday afternoon, Caldwell Police Chief Chris Algood told the Press-Tribune that the suspect was in serious condition.

The officer involved in the incident has been put on administrative leave, per department policy.
