A Dozen DUIs, Downtown Stabbing Mar Boise's New Year's Eve

At least 12 men and women spent their first hours of 2013 behind bars at the Ada County lockup.

Boise and Garden City police arrested a dozen individuals on a charge of driving under the influence early this morning.

More New Year's morning arrests included assault, domestic battery, injury to a child and illegal posession of drugs without a prescription.

Two more men were charged with the purchase or serving of alcoholic beverages to a minor

But Boise Police said the worst of it was at Jefferson Street, in front of the Idaho Capitol Building, where two people were rushed to the hospital following a stabbing at approximately 1:45 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they found two males who said they were injured by a sharp weapon during a fight with two other men. Police said one of the victims had "what appeared to be serious injuries."

According to the two men, a verbal altercation among the four men had taken place just prior to the stabbing in the area of Eighth and Bannock streets. The victims told police a foot chase among the four men took them to the Capitol, where the physical fight began.

Police are on the lookout for two suspects. One is a light-skinned male wearing a black beanie-style hat and a dark hoodie jacket. The other male was described as a light-skined adult with an average build.

With very little to work on, given the descriptions, Boise Police are hoping that downtown party-goers may have witnessed the altercation. They're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
