While most Christmas costumed cut-ups may prefer a Santa suit each holiday season, David Clemons is all about the Grinch.
"Oh, isn't this just ducky," said Clemons dressed head-to-foot in green as he heckled revelers who boarded holiday cruises along Lake Coeur d'Alene. "A boatload of Whoville's finest on a cruise to see that hideously jolly old do-gooder, Santa. Well, I hope you all have an absolutely miserable time. That's right. Miserable, like me!"
This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the Grinch is extremely popular with north Idaho party-goers.
"Wait! Leaving so soon? I hope the elves lose your Christmas list. I hope your mistletoe is really poison ivy. Come back! I'm not through ruining your evening!"
Clemons told the Press that this is the third year that he's played the Grinch.
"They keep asking me back," he told the Press. "It's fun."
At the height of the holiday cruise season, Clemons works five nights a week, five hours a night as the Grinch.
When he's not Grinching up the joint, the Press reports that Clemons is one of north Idaho's most talented artists: a sculptor who has a few of his statues in the Coeur d'Alene area.
